A Day in My Life

There are many sites and applications that I visit often and consistently. I use social media sites as much as the next person, spending most of time on Facebook and TikTok. In addition to social media specifically, just about everything else I do ties into applications on my phone. My email, my banking app, LinkedIn, and streaming platforms like Netflix.

Using digital media so often and consistently can cause both positive and negative reactions. Most of the time, using social media incites positive reactions from me. I see pictures of my friends and family, or watch cute animal videos. But there are days when social media may be bombarded with sad or frightening news. The same concept applies to the other applications I use on a daily basis. My reactions to my use of digital media can fluctuate.

I’ve noticed that the use of digital media plays a large role in marketing today. Social media, applications, streaming services, etc. are all considered when it comes to marketing today. Companies have been using marketing tools like Hootsuite and Kissmetrics to not only better understand their target market’s online habits, but to also be able to market to them more appropriately. Most companies value the understanding of their market’s online habits because it allows them to place ads more appropriately across online platforms. I believe using digital media in marketing will only strengthen moving forward.
